National Young Readers Day, November 15, 2011

Although this is not golf-related, I wanted to pass this on to those of us in the Western Prince William area that are interested.

The Chamber of Commerce Education Committee supports the National Young Readers Day (NYRD).

NYRD is an annual event designed to promote reading among elementary school-aged children. By providing positive adult role models, students learn that reading is both a skill that is vital for future success and an enjoyable pastime.

The Chamber has supported this event for the past 7 years and is seeking readers for Manassas Park Elementary School– If you are interested, please email

Ericka Hosting Mental Golf Clinic- 2/10/11

Even thought there is still snow on the ground, there are still ways to work on your golf game! I always have students tell me that they need help with the mental side of the game… so here is a great opportunity to do so!
MENTAL GOLF WORKSHOP

Next Thursday, February 10th at 6:30pm at Stonewall Golf Club join me for this 2-hour seminar.

Prior to the class, you will take an individual personality assessment called the Mental Golf Profile  ( $65 value).  During the class, I will take time to explain how different emotions, personality traits and other factors can affect your decision making and performance on the course. You will then review the results of your assessment and together we will highlight strategies for you to improve your mental game when you hit the course this Spring.

Don’t “FALL” Back!
As the summer comes to an end… don’t be sad because the BEST part of golf season is just beginning! Fall in Virginia is so gorgeous. The weather is cooler, the courses are in their best shape and its a wonderful time to continue working on your game.

If you are a new golfer or thinking about getting into golf but haven’t had the chance this summer to get started… its not too late.

TIP: Don’t “fall” back in your swing. A balanced follow through is a very important part of the swing. Even though it happens after impact, it reflects the control you have and path the club was swinging through impact.  Try and work on holding a complete (all your weight on your front leg) follow through for 3-5 secconds at the end of each swing.  If you can do that, your shots should be more consistent as well.

NEW! JUNIOR PLAYERS LEAGUE -Thursdays Afterschool ages 10-17  $200 for 6 weeks. Includes green fees, prizes, favor and professional supervision/instruction in warmups and on-course.

Players will be sent out in groups by skill level and age.
Week one, 4:30pm-7pm
Week 2-6, starting times will vary based on group placement.
Week 6- Prizes will be given to Group winners after play

GIRLS GOLF CLUB Starts Sept 14th.  A one hour clinic on tuesdays fomr 5-6pm.  6 weeks $150 per girl includes a cool favor and weekly prizes!

ADULT GROUP CLASSES RESUME NEXT WEEK!
Skill Development and Intro to Golf Classes are on the schedule.   There is an Intro Class starting next TUESDAY Aug. 17th 6pm- still space available!

New Tee Times start April 6, 2010

Making it’s first debut, we now have TWO, that is right, TWO tee-times each week for our league!

Starting Tuesday, April 6, 2010, and every Tuesday thereafter until the Fall:

Tee Times are as follows:

Tuesdays, 9:30am

Tuesdays, 5:00pm

As a reminder, it is crucial you make reservations in advance; no walk-on’s or same day reservations as those might not be honored or guaranteed by Stonewall.

Tee time conformations must be emailed to Colin Scherer at Stonewall Golf Club, cscherer@stonewallgolfclub.com, no later than the Sunday evening before the Tuesday play day.  When RSVPing to Colin, be sure to specify ”9-hole ladies league” and the tee time “9:30am” or “5:00 pm”.  After Sunday, you are not guaranteed a slot to play with the League on Tuesday.  Players may also call the pro shop before closing on Sunday to RSVP, 703-754-5101 with the same information, if that’s easier.
